SCRIPTURES OF BLESSINGS, HOPE, AND COMFORT FOR
CAREGIVERS
As I read The Cloisonné Heart, by Margaret-Maggie Honnold, I
marked the scriptures that the author shared that related to the experience of
an Alzheimer's afflicted caregiver.
Zachariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire,
and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried:
they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people:
and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
( Challenges, trials, difficulties, are symbolized by fire in
the scriptures.)
2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that
we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our
consolation also aboundeth by Christ
(When we experience God's comfort, we can then comfort others,
help them learn, notice, understand that God is also desiring to comfort them.
*
We learn this as we love through challenges and difficulties,
like Alzheimer's.)
Psalm 30:11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing:
thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
(God, Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are the source of
comfort, which we can feel through the Holy Ghost. Remember to seek Christ in
the midst of our afflictions.)
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy
mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe
to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy
way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be
not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou goest.
(Don't lose hope in the midst of our afflictions, regardless of
what the trial may be.)
Ecclesiastes 4:8 yea, it is a sore travail.
9 ¶ Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for
their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to
him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
(It's okay to ask for help, assistance, and support. Tell others
what you need. Allow those that are willing to minister. See verses 9-1)

Job 42:12 So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than
his beginning:
(Life after Alzheimer's. There are blessings of knowledge,
wisdom, and strength given to survivors.)
Ephesians 3:13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my
tribulations for you, which is your glory.
(My prayers for my children are that they may receive strength
to continue on, by feeling the love of God, and realize who they truly are and
may become.
Verses 13 - 20)
Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a
broken spirit drieth the bones.
("saps a person's strength" New Living Translation.
The New Living Translation is based on the most recent
scholarship in the theory of translation. The challenge for the translators was
to create a text that would make the same impact in the life of modern readers
that the original text had for the original readers.)
Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to
every purpose under the heaven
(This time will pass, as will the next responsibility, the next
challenge, the next chapter. They all have their purpose. Ask "what do you
want me to learn, God?" Answers will come.)
